A rapidly growing Fintech business in Manchester is on the lookout for a Lead Cloud Engineer to lead the revolution of a Series B funded scale-up. With 130 employees, they are growing the cloud function to new heights and need more firepower to support the growth of their new AWS based Platform, having migrated from a hybrid environment back in 2023.

With a strong focus on innovation and collaboration, the cloud engineering team is going to double in size in 2024, meaning you will be leading a team of 8 by the end of the year. As a Lead Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the cloud infrastructure on the AWS platform. You will lead a team of talented Cloud Engineers and collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and testers to create and manage new infrastructure in AWS. Your expertise in AWS and cloud engineering will be instrumental in shaping the future of the businesses cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable and secure cloud solutions on the AWS platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define cloud architecture and infrastructure requirements.
  • Lead a team of Cloud Engineers, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient deployment and automation.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance and cost-efficiency of cloud-based systems.
  • Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application-related issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in AWS and cloud technologies.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Cloud Engineer, with 5+ years of experience on AWS.
  • Solid understanding of cloud architecture and best practices.
  • Strong experience automating infrastructure using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and security best practices.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide a small team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
